What Should You Expect During Menopause?

Technically speaking, menopause is the time in a woman’s life when she stops having a menstrual cycle and approaches the end to her reproductive years. If you’re experiencing menopause, or are even in the years leading up to it called perimenopause, you know there’s more to it than a clinical definition.

The changes in your body typically coincide with major changes in your life. You may be trying to sort out a range of emotions. It’s a time when you want an OB/GYN who will take the time to listen, understand and approach your particular circumstances with compassion.

While some women actually notice few changes in their bodies during menopause, others find it difficult to cope with symptoms which can include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Sleep problems
  • Vaginal and urinary tract changes
  • Bone and other body changes
  • Emotional changes
  • Sexual problems
For some women, hormone replacement therapy and other menopausal medicine can alleviate menopausal symptoms and improve the quality of life. We do offer these treatment options and would be happy to discuss whether they may be right for you. We’re also here to talk about ways you can maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout this new chapter in your life.
